WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!
TWA would appreciate your help and assistance at Richard Bong during the 2024 annual WSGC competitions on Saturday, April 27th, 2024. Rain date Sunday, April 28th. This competition will involve 26 First Nation teams and 8 Collegiate teams. TWA mainly needs your help with pad management, safety reliance and assisting teams confidently load their project on the pads. Experienced L 2 certified members in good standing with TRA/NAR is recommended. Please contact Frank at maxq3@aol.com to confirm your intentions to help with this event. This years First Nations teams will involve 3 different challenges. MARS, Moon, and Gateway. MARS - Challenge: 8-7.5 Dia, weight 15 - 25lbs, K impulse motors. Max alt. 2500 All projects will use dual deployment. Payload will carry a drone to be deployed at apogee with its own parachute. At proximity 500-400 parachute will be released from drone. Drone will be controlled from team flight operator to land at a designated landing area (TBD). Moon - Challenge: 8-7.5 Dia. Weight 10 - 20 lbs. K impulse. Max alt. 2000. All projects will use dual deployment. Payload will carry a lander to be deployed at apogee with its own parachute. Lander will descend to the ground at a rate of 20 +- fp/s under parachute. Gateway - Challenge: 4 Dia weight 4-8 lbs. I impulses. Max alt. 2800 All projects will be a standard rocket flight profile with dual deployment. Payload may carry a camera or a small internal recording device. Collegiate - Challenge: 4- 5.5 Dia. I, J, K impulse. Max alt. 3500 All projects will be dual deployment. Payload will carry a high-resolution camera that will attempt to capture a large four-color ground target (Approx.1600 sq. ft.) at apogee. If you wish, we can use a few experienced L2 members on Friday, April 26th to assist in safety inspections and motor building at Carthage college between 10am and 4pm. THANK YOU! TWA |
