Long lost. Looooong lost. |

I know this is a real stretch, but I can
only try..... Lost a fluorescent pink, minimum diameter, 38mm rocket from the runway around 1999 or 2000. (Around the time the permanent, away pad went in the ground.) This was probably the last rocket I flew before cash-flow, job change and relocation hassles diverted me away from rokkit science. Conditions have changed, so I'm jumping back into HPR...with both feet! No longer on a shoestring budget....the VISA card is smoking from all the rokkit stuff I've been ordering since the August '09 Bong launch. Had a solid, resin, conical nosecone and the resin fin can was epoxied directly to a (30"??) length of 38mm, phenolic, MM tube. Recovery was by streamer and a small X-form 'chute. I think everything was tied together with bungee cord as was popular at the time. I don't remember what motor was in it....but it sure disappeared in a hurry. It was one of those end-of-the-day-let's- hurry-'em-off-the-pads-as we're-running- out-of-light kind of launches....so the fast countdown caught me un-prepared. I think it was Blue Thunder propellant, so there wasn't much smoke to give me an idea where to begin to look for the rocket. I spent the entire following day finding and exploring every nook and cranny at Bong. Quite a lot of rocket hunting has taken place in the last 9 or 10 years, so.... anyone have my pink dart sitting on a shelf or in the junk box??? |
